JOB OVERVIEW
As the industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of abrasive blasting equipment and supplies, our Davenport manufacturing team is critical to our overall business strategy, fueling Allredi's growth across North America. We are looking for an exceptional leader to motivate and inspire our skilled team of welders, fabricators and assemblers to keep up with growing demand for our products. Previous management experience is essential along with a hunger to learn and grow with the business. Work is day-shift with some evenings and weekends required to meet business goals. The Fabrication Supervisor coordinates the activity of all teams within the manufacturing plant. Understands the technical aspects of the department while providing “hands-on” knowledge of operational tasks and equipment to improve operating efficiency, processes materials in accordance with manufacturing specification and quality standards. Provides for safe work environment with good employee relations and takes a leadership role in Safety and Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Align to company vision and ensure production goals are achieved.
Supervises all members of the Fabrication, Welding & Painting departments in day-to-day operations.
Assigns daily tasks and maintains workflow for the department while maintaining close working relationships with Planning, Engineering, Warehouse, Assembly and Quality departments.
Responsible for training new employees and creating training materials as needed.
Responsible to ensure fabrication is completed per specifications.
Ensure good housekeeping practices.
Maintain supply of tools and shop supplies.
Take lead on simultaneous projects while attaining high results with minimal guidance.
Complete other tasks as assigned or needed.
Job requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Leadership experience including a minimum of 2-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to build a high-performing culture and to get the best out of employees. Desire to be on the shop floor with the team, leading alongside.
Welding certification or two years of fabrication welding experience required.
Previous experience with media blasting and wet industrial painting application is strongly desired.
Preferred experience in MIG welding with experience with mild steel and stainless steel.
Knowledge with Sage X3 or similar ERP systems a plus.
Must have high ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Previous application of lean manufacturing/six sigma & structured problem solving is a plus.
Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, across organizational lines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong organization and planning skills.
High school diploma or GED required.
WORK HOURS
Typical Monday-Friday office schedule, with some night and weekend work as required to meet business objectives.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS
Lifting of up to 75 pounds is required. Considerable walking, climbing of stairs and extended reaching may be required. Will have to work with various power and manual tools, including handheld grinders, drills, hammers, cutting torches, plasma cutters, seam welders, and drill press. Must be able to handle extreme weather conditions.
