
Job description
The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and controlling costs related to production, inventory, and operations. This role supports management decision-making by providing accurate cost data, variance analysis, and recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities:
· Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
· Perform cost variance analysis and investigate discrepancies
· Monitor inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS)
· Prepare cost reports, budgets, and forecasts
· Support month-end and year-end close processes related to costing
· Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost controls
· Assist with product pricing, margin analysis, and profitability studies
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
· Support audits by providing cost-related documentation and explanations
· Reconciling RNIs (Received not Invoiced).
Job requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· 4 years of experience in cost accounting or manufacturing accounting
· Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
· Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
· Experience with standard costing, variance analysis, and budgeting.
· Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
