Job description

We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Press Brake Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to produce high-quality metal parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate should have experience in operating press brakes, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


    • Set up press brake machines by selecting and installing appropriate tooling, adjusting settings, and programming controls according to job specifications.

    • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders to determine setup procedures and machining sequences.

    • Operate press brake machines to bend, shape, and form metal sheets and plates to meet precise tolerances and quality standards.

    • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and make adjustments as needed for optimal performance.

    • Inspect finished parts to verify conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on press brake machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.

    • Troubleshoot issues with machine operation and take corrective action to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.

    • Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and adhering to lockout/tagout procedures.

    • Collaborate with team members, including machine operators, supervisors, and quality control personnel, to ensure efficient production and timely completion of orders.

    • Document production activities, including machine setup, run times, and quantities produced, accurately and legibly.

Job requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS


    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Proven experience as a Press Brake Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.

    • Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders.

    • Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform basic calculations related to machine setup and operation.

    • Familiarity with press brake machines and their operating principles.

    • Ability to read and understand machine manuals, technical documents, and safety guidelines.

    • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

    • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

    • Physical stamina and ability to lift/move heavy materials and operate machinery for extended periods.

    • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production demands.

    • Vocational training or certification in machine operation or metal fabrication.

    • Experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brake machines.

    • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement techniques.

    • Familiarity with quality control processes and ISO standards.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

WORK HOURS

  • Typical Monday-Friday office schedule, with some night and weekend work as required to meet business objectives. 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, of up to 50 pounds, is required. Considerable walking, climbing of stairs and extended reaching may be required. Will have to work with various power and manual tools. Must be able to handle extreme weather conditions.
