Job description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager with strong manufacturing experience to lead our engineering team and support the design, optimization, and reliability of production equipment and product line development. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced factory environment, understands the realities of production constraints, and can balance hands‑on technical work with strategic leadership.

Responsibilities & Duties:

·       Lead and mentor a team of engineers, mechanical drafters.

·       Oversee mechanical design, equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and process optimization initiatives.

·       Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on throughput, quality, safety, and cost reduction.

·       Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturing performance.

·       Manage capital projects, including equipment selection, vendor coordination, installation, and commissioning.

·       Conduct root‑cause analysis for equipment failures and implement long‑term corrective actions.

·       Ensure all mechanical systems comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.

·       Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, SOPs, and maintenance plans.

·       Support new product introduction (NPI) by ensuring manufacturability, tooling readiness, and smooth production ramp‑up.

Job requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

·       7–10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing leadership role.

·       Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, assembly, automation, or high‑volume production.

·       Proficiency with SolidWorks tools (CAD, Creo, Inventor) and familiarity with PLM systems.

·       Experience managing capital equipment projects and working with external vendors.

·       Strong analytical skills with experience in FMEA, root‑cause analysis, and reliability engineering.

·       Excellent communication, leadership, and team‑building abilities.

·       P.Eng designation is an asset..

·       Preferred Experience

·       Background in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

·       Experience with automation, robotics, or industrial controls.

·       Knowledge of GD&T, FEA, and mechanical system reliability.

·       Familiarity with maintenance strategies such as TPM or predictive maintenance.
